Someone Who Gets It
I didn't learn leadership from a textbook. I learned it by running companies, failing fast, always moving forward, and discovering what actually works when the pressure is on.
In 1998, I founded Dragon Consulting to help travel companies manage data. I was young, hungry, and convinced I could figure it all out alone. Spoiler: I couldn't.
Over 16 years, I built that company into something real. But I also made every rookie mistake a founder makes—hiring the wrong people, scaling too fast, losing focus, burning out my team (including myself), and getting stuck on problems that didn't matter.
In 2013, we rebranded to DragonDev and doubled down on software development. We grew, won clients, sponsored Startup Week. We looked successful from the outside.
But inside? I was the bottleneck. My indispensability was the ceiling. Sound familiar?
The Turn
In 2016, I made a choice. Instead of grinding harder, I stepped back and asked a different question: "What if I helped other leaders avoid the mistakes I made?"
I sold portions of DragonDev and started Solution Dragon, LLC. For the first time in 18 years, I wasn't running the machinery; I was thinking about the blueprint.
That perspective shift changed everything. And now, I bring that hard-won wisdom to leaders like you—leaders who see the summit but are tired of climbing alone.
